The Gracie Barra program structure defines 3 main stages of development for students starting at the beginner level and progressing to the competition level in brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Our programs are designed with each student’s personal achievement in mind. Your personal goals, such as fitness or self-defence, will be taken into account when you sign up.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals

The Gracie Barra Fundamentals Program teaches the basic principles of effective fighting. Its structure condenses an immense diversity of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into core fundamental moves combined intelligently and safely to optimize your learning.

This course can be thought of as Jiu-jitsu for beginners. This course teaches the fundamentals and principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as the skills you need to grow personally in a Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle.

Students experience results that go beyond gains in strength, flexibility, fitness or self-defense skills. By remaining truthful to the lessons learned in practice and applying them off the mats, Gracie Barra students experience an overall improvement on their focus, energy and general well-being.

At this stage of training, students experience significant gains in overall fitness levels and considerable weight loss and increase in flexibility. Improvements in sleep, energy and concentration will also be noticed, as well as self-confidence.

Students will now have a good understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Barra’s self-defense system.

Advanced Jiu-Jitsu

After mastering the fundamentals, what comes next on Gracie Barra’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey? More advanced program accessible from white belt with 3 stripes.

In this course, you will advance your Jiu-Jitsu knowledge. Take your training beyond the fundamentals and begin to hone the principles you need to succeed, such as discipline, respect, commitment, and leadership.

Improve your level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique. This program aims to level up, and make you discover the concepts of the “Human Chess Game”. Strategy, discipline, respect, and determination are necessary to succeed during this program.

At this stage of training, students will notice a shaping in their Jiu-Jitsu game flow as well as develop transitions between Jiu-Jitsu techniques. Overall fitness level will continue to improve as well as a massive body change and muscle tone building. You will start to see yourself stronger and with more energy as you commit to the program.

You now have the possibility to step up and participate in Jiu-Jitsu competitions, if that’s your goal!

GB2 - No Gi

Expert Jiu-Jitsu

This program is accessible from white belt with 3 stripes. You can now explore our concepts and discover new No-Gi (without kimono) Jiu-Jitsu techniques.

Our No-Gi classes are available for our advanced students only. It is fast-paced, cardio heavy, and requires a lot of flow and precise techniques. It can be very dynamic and less of the slow grind that grappling in the Gi can often involve. They can be quite different but both a lot of fun!

By practicing this new way of Jiu-Jitsu, students will be forced to learn new grips since the collar, sleeves, and pant legs are no longer available.

You will be able to adapt your BJJ to use non-kimono grips like under and over hooks, collar ties, and wrist controls. You will also have a new understanding of the “handles” on the human body and how to control an opponent, gaining more confidence in and off mat.
